          CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
          Nursing or "sparking" lamp; narrow cylindrical oil reservoir set on wider, round base; top of base around reservoir dips down.  Upright ring (finger hold / handle) soldered on to base next to reservoir.  Reservoir rises to narrow neck and round mouth, neck threaded on inside.  Flat round top screws into neck, has upright copper (?) feed tube extending through center; cone-shaped cap with flared opening fits over feed tube (to extinguish flame); attached to top with chain.
CONDITION:  Fair; overall tarnish, scratches, and pitting.  On 12/4/03, handle ring found broken off (leaving hole in base), but preserved; base bent near damaged handle join.
